When you’re hitting the road for a cross-city trek or heading off on a trip for a few days, packing smart can make sure you stay comfortable on the trip.  Traveling while pregnant can cause anxiety and trigger a stressful episode; when you’re not comfortable or haven’t eaten properly, it can take its toll in the entire travel experience.   Whether you’re taking a flight or setting out on a road trip, here’s what you’ll need to pack and organize in your favorite tote:

Trip Planning Tip 1.  Water, water and more water!

Make sure you’re well hydrated during your trip with at least 3-4 bottles of water per day. You may need to take along a cooler to accommodate for the bottles, or just make sure you’re guzzling the good stuff during every pit stop.

Trip Planning Tip 2.  Your cell phone

Make sure the cell phone is fully charged, or take the cell phone and car charger with you on the road in case of an emergency.  You’ll need some type of communication device whether you’re traveling alone or with friends and family, so make sure it’s tucked away safely (somewhere) in your tote bag!

Trip Planning Tip 3. Relaxing music

Load up the iPod with relaxing music or pick out some of your favorite CDs that will soothe and relax you.  This is a great way to spend a few hours of traveling, and can help you relieve stress and tension with ease.

Trip Planning Tip 4.  Healthy snacks

Getting hungry along the route can make you irritable, anxious and prone to angry outbursts.  Pack some healthy snacks that keep your blood sugar levels stable – granola bars, dried fruit with yogurt, and even boxes of miniature cereal are some great snacks to have on hand.

Trip Planning Tip 5.  A miniature pillow

Sometimes you just need a power nap to keep your energy level up, so pack a soft pillow or blanket that can turn into a pillow for a makeshift headrest.  You’ll be amazed at the difference a few ZZZ’s can make on that long journey.
