As a new mom, going green has never been more important to me. From organic produce to eco-friendly cleaning products, I can’t get my hands on enough “green” things. I’m sure many of you new moms feel the same way. The next step in going green for me is to buy eco-friendly toys for my baby, and here’s how I’m going about my search!
I’m choosing recyclable materials for toys like wood, leather, or organic cotton. Plastic is out of the question since most plastic toys are non-biodegradable. Here are some of my favorite eco-friendly finds:
Plan Toys Country Barn
The Plan Toys Country Barn is made from natural, chemical free rubber wood and finished with non-toxic and child friendly colors.
Idbid Eco-Friendly Starter Kits
Another of my favorite eco-friendly toys are the Idbid Eco-Friendly Starter Kits, which come with a soft plush toy made of organic cotton and a storybook.
You can take these suggestions or find your own eco-friendly toys at your local baby store, or even online. Many national chain baby stores now carry eco-friendly toys and products, which makes it easier than ever to be an environmentally-friendly mommy.
Wondering what to do with toys you already have that aren’t so eco-friendly? Don’t worry, you can semi-recycle these toys as well. Donate these toys to a local shelter, Goodwill or even take them to a consignment store to earn money towards the purchase of other eco-friendly toys. In this way, you’re still able to promote re-use of toys and make way for some that may be a little more “green.”
